Richie McCaw Story

Richie McCaw

Richie McCaw was born on New Years Eve 1980.  His mum Margaret and dad Donald were very excited to have a cute baby boy.

As Richie grew up he was a really good boy at school.  He went to Hakataremea Primary school but that school has closed now. Then he went to Kurow Area School for intermediate.

When he got older he had to go to a boarding school called Otago Boys High School in Dunedin.  He missed his parents but he worked really hard at school and playing rugby.

Richie dreamed of becoming an All Black and when his under 19 team won the world championship he realised his dreams might come true.

Richie played his first game for the All Blacks on 17 November 2001.  The All Blacks won the game 40-29 and Richie was the man of the match.

Richie has been in the All Blacks team when they won the Rugby World cup in 2011, 2015 and hopefully 2019!

In January 2017 Richie married Gemma Flynn.  She was a New Zealand Hockey Player.

In December 2018 Richie and Gemma had a beautiful baby girl called Charlotte.

Now Richie flies helicopters and is still famous even though he doesn't play rugby anymore.
